Look: The poster made two arguments, that BadEmpanada was bad because of a retweet, and Greyzone good because Blumenthal arrested and Wikipedia censors them. These are not good arguments for whether or not a journalistic outfit is good. BadEmpanada made good points in his video, like Greyzone’s support of Assad against the YPG in Syria, their support of Russian imperialism in Crimea, and their misrepresentation of the food situation in Venezuela.
If you think BE is being irresponsible with these critiques, you’d have to argue that any good-faith left-wing critique of the Greyzone is irresponsible and serving the interests of USA imperialism, which I’d refute. If you want to push back on the facts presented in his video, great, but you can’t just say he’s “fullfiling a role” by being retweeted by a right-winger. Guess who was also retweeted by a right winger? Max Blumenthal, when the Russian government retweeted him for his great coverage excusing their blatant imperialism in Crimea.
Obviously the vast majority of what Greyzone puts out is great reporting, but they’re not above criticism, and you can’t tautologically argue that they’re anti-imperialist, therefore all criticism of them is pro-imperialist.
Yellow mustard is the only good mustard. That brown stuff may be the “original,” but it was only used because they didn’t have capsaicin, which is the only good spicy. Your arguments boil down to reactionary dreams of an imagined mustard past, a stone-ground ideal, yet fail to mention taste even once. You drown in grey poupon propaganda, associating mustard choice as a simulacrum of refinement. You name-drop Baudrillard yet fail to realize that it is YOU who is using mustard as a building block of your own personality.
