It’s embarrassing enough I had to call her for help because I couldn’t trust myself to make the step, but to be advised to learn to code while I’m in hospital as I’m leaning on her in nothing but a towel is a new level.
Then again this is the same woman I overheard tell the afternoon guy that I’m “a bit useless” when they switched shifts so I shouldn’t be surprised.
Fucking exactly. She does help when I call but she acts like Im this massive imposition every single time and constantly tells me “you’ll have to do this yourself soon” no matter what it is. The usual afternoon nurse, Greg, is great and has done things for me without me having to ask and feeling embarrassed about it. In fact literally all the other nurses I’ve encountered so far have been nice, apart from Bernadette who literally sits in her little vestibule reading a magazine and drinking tea from 5am to 1pm and sighs dramatically if you dare to press the button for the nurse. Does she think I enjoy having to ask for help getting out bed sometimes? Because I don’t it actually really fucking upsets and embarrasses me.
She’s also fucking horrible to Shen (I don’t know how it’s spelt but that’s how it’s pronounced) the Chinese nurse who comes with the medication sometimes. She basically blanks her and does this weird closed mouth angry smile the entire time she’s here. No fucking idea what that’s about (given this is the Midlands, I assume racism)
I just fucking hate her and she does stupid power trippy shit like my Stepfather used to, like specifically making me ask her to press the buzzer for the door if I’m leaving for any reason instead of just buzzing me through when she can see me at the door like literally everyone else does (she will pretend to not see you and ignore you and put a little dramatic show on of ignoring you) or literally waiting until the clock says exactly 10:30am (she will sit there staring at her watch tapping on the glass while making me wait if I’m even 5 seconds early) before she’ll let me go for a smoke break, and then handing me a face mask and a slip one by one instead of together and just dumb stupid shit like that. Just total small minded power trip nonsense.
Report her. She is failing her duty of care to you.
Yeah I’m gonna ask the evening nurse how to go about that when he comes in. She’s making me feel ten times worse about things and like, I’m really God damn trying my best and yet she acts like I’m trying to get away with doing nothing and making her do it.
Maybe try recording your interactions with her with your phone so you have evidence to show someone that works there that has authority over her. Her behavior sounds mostly passive aggressive but if you can record her saying you’re useless or something then that’s perfect for getting back at her. I really hate when people in positions of power pull shit like this.
Dude your sick, not useless. I’ve had that feeling when ill, I feel like the lowest piece of dirt when I’m sick. You’re amazing and your face is extra lovable.
Reporting a healthcare worker for inappropriate conduct is exactly the same as becoming a state enforcer. I am very smart.

Actually, she should not make a post about this, this is fucked. This nurse will have access to thousands of patients, and this attitude will get several of them fucking killed. KILLED.
If you are actively making patients feel worse then you’re not fit for medical practice.
I’m friends with health workers and the amount of shit they put up with (sometimes literally) is astonishing but poor bedside manner is unacceptable nonetheless.
I understand being a nurse is stressful but being so ill you need help is also not exactly sunshine and roses.
If the state should be doing anything it’s dealing with this kind of thing because it’s directly to do with the well-being of a citizen.

I’m literally in here for kidney issues. My operation has been pushed back because of covid messing everything up so the “one month inpatient stay” looks like it’ll be closer to two right now. Which is so great.
I know exactly what you’re talking about. Back in November I was at the point where any movement at all greater than an inch or two made me violently sick and so I was basically sat bolt upright against a wall, legs pulled up to my chest and tightly clutching a water bottle and a cardboard bowl to throw up into and one of the nurses with me said to me “alright enough with the dramatics” and tried to pull me up without warning. Like what the fuck are you doing. I threw up all over her and she acted like I was at fault. The vast majority of nurses are amazing and then you have these random fucking psychos who seem to think anyone without obvious physical signs is being dramatic or faking it for some God damn reason.
