I’m going to make a hexbear account because I’m tired of racist takes from other instances. Fuck this shit. I joined this instance for the uptime because lemmigrad and .ml were frequently down, and hexbear layout was confusing me. How stupid of me.

Welcome, friend. I made an account here for similar reasons and it was the best decision of my life (and mental health).

Welcome 🤗. I spend a lot of time on hexbear for similar reasons. Don’t like the racism and homophobia on other instances and social media platforms.

Hey :(

I use lemm.ee because the big lib instances have not defederated it (.world, beehaw) and they still federate with hexbear (I also like slrpnk.net and they defederated from hexbear as well).

Ditto Odo. I like having the agency to choose to block / ingnore users or instances I dislike. I understand some people may not be in a headspace where they are able to ignore vitriolic / harmful posts or opinions and some people simply don’t want to have to block every other post and just enjoy their space.

.ee seemed to tick all the boxes at the time while being large / established enough to not fly by night.

There are other instances out there, who just simply don’t take political stances. I specifically chose one ran by oldschool internet heads. AFAIK we’ve not defederated with anyone, and the userbase would revolt if admins did without very, very good reason.

There are, like, CSAM and Nazi instances.

I can only speak for myself, but I never see them in my All. Likely because I just block and move on when something I deem genuinely misanthropic pops up.

EDIT: I also have NSFW turned off, not sure if that also would be a factor.

Tell them to federate with us, you must act as our representative

I think that’s just because it’s become kind of the general instance now that Lemmy dot world keeps having its hamster wheel powered servers self combust. I’m sure there are plenty of cool people on there as well because of that, just drowned out by endless liberalism.

I think it’s because the people motivated enough to respond here are always doing so because they were triggered. The normal people aren’t triggered. They might read a bit of the struggle session and say nothing. That’s all.

Eventually over time those people became members of CTH back in the day. So give it time. I have noticed that we’ve gone up by about 100 active users per day in the last week. Many of these are probably chapos dragged out of their hole by the entertainment of the battles happening on /all/ but I also suspect we are attracting a few people.

I am hopeful that lemmyworld’s problems continue indefinitely until lemm.ee takes the leadership role as it seems run by people of sounder mind. Their moderation of hate is stronger, transphobia is better, and they’re not banning the socialists. It’s the one we ought to promote.

this way of using the word triggered really undercuts PTSD and it originates from reactionary groups - can we please not replicate it here?

Sure I don’t mind taking that on-board I’ve never really run into anyone criticising it, do you have alternative suggestions that can replace it while adequately describing the same phenomenon?

I kinda hope they don’t defenestrate or whatever, there’s a perverse glee in the whiplash of seeing all these Reddit posts showing up on Hexbear

Might get old though

Last time I saw one here, a bunch of great comrades from the news megathread dogpiled them with walls of text, literally so much text I had to scroll for a considerable amount of time. I don’t think that’s ever getting old.

Communists don’t ask each other questions because they’re all supposed to have read everything. It’s safer to let the libs ask the question, dunk, and then hope a comrade provides a good answer, knowing you’ll repay the favour when the next lib asks something you do know about, like an obscure paragraph in a forgotten letter about the analogical virtues of cheese over linen in MECW volume 37.
