I can handle capeshit in small doses but the larger zeitgeist of it is “trying to improve society somewhat is what villains do” and “Great Men Who Are Born Special should rule over you for your own good.”
I actually havent seen capshit since the first iron man movie. I was in my coutries equivalent of a greyhound and they were airing it. I got so offended i decided to boycot disney.

It fucks me up so bad that this movie I saw 15 years ago was the first in a series that is STILL going. It’s not even the case that they rebooted it no technically it’s still from the same thing and I’m in my god damn thirties now
Edit: I should also mention that “rebooting” is a load of horseshit anyway. They’ve decided the mcu is just the visual comics so when they “reboot” they will literally have an in universe explanation for why it’s happening with multiverse bullshit.

I think the last capeshit I saw was Shazam. It was cute, i liked the found family angle. The last mcu capeshit i saw was i think black widow. The portrayal of the soviet super soldiers was eye rolling but I really liked Florence Pugh’s character and Rachel Weiss and what’s his name had fun chemistry. Some good chase sequences. Also some of the slice of life/downtime/our lives as super-people are so weird moments that I like in the genre. I would seriously just want a 2hr movie of Captain America and Black Widow running errands, doing laundry, buying groceries.

I think I can attest to the fact there is some level of weeb hate in here, but as the op said, its a minority of loud voices and ultimately it leads to very hypocritical arguments so it ends up in a meaningless discussion anyway. The original copypasta is a bit though surely, but lets just say not completely fictional.

Anime and manga are such wildly diverse mediums, as diverse as anything else. A lot of the perception of them being uniquely perverse is that the loudest voices talking about them on the English language internet are deeply, distressingly weird people. You just don’t hear about all the boring slice of life mangas for adults bc the stereotypical English speaking :libertarian-approaching:'s aren’t interested in it. There’s so much high quality anime with deep commentary on politics, philosophy, art, culture, life.
