This is it. Everything about this chain of tweets makes it the absolute worst take of all time. It is so terrible that it made me stop lurking and register to Hexbear.
Not only is it completely moronic, uninformed and tech-illiterate, it is also extremely xenophobic, Nazi-like, showcasing an absolute unshaken smugness, a complete unwillingness to learn, and a tendency to double down when called out even on basic facts.
It is the ultimate epitome of a smug shitlib propagandized to hell and back by the US military complex, who thinks he has the entire world figured out.
NOT ONLY THAT, but this guy is also:
- A Democrat, one of those people who supposedly want to “save America from fascism”, yet who speaks EXACTLY like an ethnonationalist.
- A “Geopolitics Analyst” with supposedly 20+ years of experience, one of the so-called “experts” of the West, demonstrating their utterly failing grasp on reality.
- A “game theory expert” and advisor to corporate and government executives on strategy, yet also a man who is so incredibly stupid that he hasn’t understood the first thing about Free and Open Source Software.
He is so absolutely, totally, and completely thoroughly deranged that even NAFO dog avatars and Cryptobros are taken aback by his dumbass posts. It wouldn’t surprise me if he later tried to claim he was hacked.
These tweets could be printed out, framed, and attached to humanity’s collective gravestone. I don’t think you could compile a better collage of the West’s utterly genocidal insanity if you tried.
These are the kinds of people advising those who call the shots. A representative of the people that will ride our species to extinction. The horseman of death himself. Abandon all hope – if you even had any left at this point.
It’s really the optimal strategy for the Democrats, from their point of view, for 2024.
They will likely throw money behind Trump, or behind DeSantis, whichever turns out to be the underdog, to try and split the Republican base. The Democrats won’t have to come up with any policy or strategy besides saying “we’re not the other guy”. A promise they can hold effortlessly. They don’t care if the Republicans win and take total control either, because there will always be the next election, the next “ultimate fight for democracy” where the reins can switch hands for the next 2-8 years again.
Because despite what the Democrats claim, the United States will never get rid of the election clown show. It would simply not be in its geopolitical interest to be seen as a one-party dictatorship. Both parties use the pretense of democracy to intervene in other countries, and they still need it for their upcoming battles. It is an essential part of its outward image, no matter how awfully fascistic the ruling party is.
I’ve always seen the sigma male meme as satirical, much in the same vein as American Psycho.
It’s unfortunate if people are taking it as a serious role model. I mean, the whole entire beginning and ending monologue in the movie, which stem from the same paragraph in the book, flat-out state that his life is pure agony for him.
I’ll believe it once people stop using Twitter links for news and politics.
This is really the only correct answer. If there’s no alternative people are willing to switch to, then the site can crash and chug and go down for weeks, lose most of its current maintainers, and people will keep using it regardless. And so far, there has been little signs that Twitter is actually losing users. The number of app downloads for Twitter has risen since Musk took over, and people are dumb enough to pay $8 for Twitter Blue just to shitpost with a parody account.
And as long as there’s users on the platform, as long as government officials, journalists and company representatives keep using it to make public statements, as long as other websites, chiefly among them news sites, keep using Twitter as a primary source for information, then the site isn’t going to stop existing.
Some advertisers might be attempting to get PR brownie points by announcing they are exiting Twitter, but they’ll eventually all quietly come crawling back if the userbase remains. Ultimately, they have to advertise in places where people are going to place their attention, otherwise they can’t fool people into buying their products.
And as for employees – I have no doubt in my mind that there’s enough people out there willing to exploit themselves to work in such a job. Tesla could not exist otherwise, and it runs on exactly the same model that Musk is now forcing Twitter into. There’s also a tendency to outsource IT jobs to Asia, and as much as Western Mayos may like to believe that they are superior and/or irreplacable, Asian people aren’t stupid, and can generally match their work output any day of the week.
The only thing that could take down Twitter is a viable competitor. Mastodon hardly qualifies. as it’s a distributed system for community networking, like Reddit, not a centralized, international, public shoutbox like Twitter. It simply doesn’t serve the same purpose.

This has always bothered me. Why is the “instant death” spell considered unforgiveable?
I can understand the torture spell, or mind control spell to be considered abhorrent, but why a spell whose effect can not only be achieved by a huge number of other spells, even ones cast without speaking (e.g. the wand-flick gunshot), but which can also be achieved through basic muggle technology?
Why is a spell like “Sectum Sempra” considered acceptable, despite permanently maiming the target, leaving them writhing in pain, and if not treated, killing them too?
A more intelligent author might have defined entire categories of spells as unforgiveable, like a wizard Geneva Convention, and would have probably included stuff like Horcruxes, necromancy, etc.
