I’m sorry for doubting you. Faith in electoralism utterly destroyed beyond repair.

Ahh… first time?

I remember way back to 2000… and then 2004… simpler times.

2000 was the first time I voted, my presidential picks chart an interesting path of radicalization.

2000 Nader 2004 Kerry 2008 Obama 2012 None 2016 Stein 2020 La Riva

I ask this with the utmost love and respect, but what led you to taint your otherwise stellar record with John fucking Kerry lmao

I had just lost a sibling in Iraq and I really thought he might end the war. I was still pretty young. It took Obama’s absolute do nothing first term to strip the last vestiges of liberalism from my psyche.

What destroyed it for you? Is it just the lack of a decisive victory for Biden?

Yeah I don’t understand what she was hoping for. I didn’t have any hopes to be dashed.

That happened for me on Super Tuesday when we got ratfucked. But super Tuesday was, what feels like, 8 or 9 years ago.

It was seeing Trump in the lead, and thinking, “oh god, if he wins, the next 4 years are going to be so insufferable”. And then Biden swung into the lead, and I thought, “OH GOD, IF HE WINS, THE NEXT 4 YEARS ARE GOING TO BE SO INSUFFERABLE!!!”

It just hadn’t really sunk in until that moment.

I didn’t have higher hopes before. Realistically, I wasn’t expecting anything good to happen. But this was the moment that I internalised it.
