but I know people tend to hate fake shit. (Just look at the fake meat industry. It’s not doing so well.)

Mmmhmm, just gotta get that dig in against vegans, classic stuff

I too am sick of the “vegan ____ is fake ____” line. It’s like they’re implying it’s made out of packing peanuts and mysterious chemicals :ohnoes:

It isn’t “fake meat” it’s a real vegan burger.

This is exactly my feeling. why call this black bean burger a “Ultimate COW BEEF burger (no beef)” I just want a black bean burger.

Showing by pbc treatboy side but you remember the garden burgers BK used to have? I thought they were a lot better than the new impossible whoppers.

I once saw a guy claim that most land use and pollution comes from growing/manufacturing vegan food. He was deadass too because it was on the anti vegan subreddit

It’s virtue signaling for “neutral” and “nonpolitical” bazingas that claim to hate virtue signaling. :very-intelligent:

If you like seitan, tvp, related products, fine. Personally just give me the vegetables that have the protein, cooked and spiced but otherwise unprocessed, tastes like food, does not resemble rubber at all, yummy in my tummy

lmao that’s hilarious.

I say this as a guy who likes manual transmissions. Fake engine noises are already sus as hell, but at least with those you can make the argument that they’re for pedestrians so your vehicle doesn’t sneak up on them - the only thing this system does is reduce your efficiency until you learn to perfectly mimic what the computer would have done anyway.

at a recent pikes peak one of the electrics was using clips from some movie as their pedestrian warning sound.

why replicate a shitty ICE engine when i the bus could sound like the enterprise going to warp or make everyone outside listen to thilla killa klowns?

lmao that’s great. I would say set a decibel range that the car has to make sound in, no need to mandate that that sound be modeled after an ICE engine revving.

tbh i’d prefer not having the noise pollution at all, but i’ll put up with it to not social murder people who can’t see well.

Saving $4000 on your accessories by making vroom-vroom noises with your mouth

This is like when they added a “sports mode” to modern muscle cars that just make artificially loud, obnoxious noises that don’t reflect any sort of modification or performance to the car

Most sport.modes just change the throttle map. So when the pedal is at 50% the actual throttle us at 75% for example

As a person who first learned how to drive stick shift and drove one for about 5 years before getting an automatic transmission vehicle… I have no intention to go back to manual ever.

I personally love mine but again, car enthusiast. Like mostly hobbies just the act of doing the hobby is enjoyable.

I hope this is my last one though. If I ever buy a car again so help me it’ll be electric. I didn’t this time because I have literally no place to charge it and my landlord refused to add a plug even though I offered to pay for it. And before anyone is like WHY WOULD NEED A CAR because even though I live in one of the transit capitals in the US, my partner works outside the city and there’s no way to get there without one. Blame America

good guiding principle. you’ll beat the odds on being correct.

The only reason I have a manual is because all the connected IoT shit in cars is terrifying. Like how someone could just hack your car and force it to crash into tree at 100mph. Or software bugs leading to brakes not working, etc. I don’t think mine is connected in that way but even if it is I can put it in neutral and turn the engine off with the key.

I like it because adhd… it’s a repetitive motion that replaces stimming so my brain can focus on something else.

I want this but only if its an actual manual transmission and only if there is a real increase in efficiency

there can’t be an efficiency increase because electric motors are basically the same efficiency across the RPM range.

The only reason ICE cars do it is because engines have torque/horsepower peaks across rev ranges and it aims to stay in the good ranges at different speeds. That’s also why CVT (transmission type without distinct gears) is banned in F1, because it’s too good for racing.

Consumer CVTs are all terrible though, which is why even automatic cars have gears
