In response to my partner and I still not going to indoor restaurants, one of our parents said that they have seen people claiming the vaccines are the cause of the various premature deaths of otherwise healthy people. I was trying to explain that we still have concerns over long covid and the possible part it played in our auto-immune disorders ramping up. I used an example of one of our family friends dying abruptly of heart failure without any sort of sign or warning, that was met with “well I’m seeing a lot of people might think it’s actually the vaccines…. I’m done… I really am. I can’t do this shit anymore, I’m so fucking tired of defending my decisions against people who can’t fathom a life without their very specific treats and vibes. Reataurants fucking suck anyway, anything in public is probably a dogshit experience, I can’t wait to move to the woods away from all these fucks.
I don’t know tbh honest, I also don’t care because as far as I’ve seen that a bullshit “just asking question” type argument coming from their side. I find it disingenuous to both sides this situation, especially they they only did that in an attempt to downplay my concerns.
Look, I get what you’re saying, but you’re giving too much credence to “both sides” when one of those sides are anti-vaxxers in no way interested in science who have been acting in bad faith the entire pandemic. In the scenario presented in the post, it is far more likely that OP’s family members are acting from this bad faith anti-vax position, and their concerns and views should not be given equal (or, frankly, any) merit.
I’m leaving your comments up, but consider this a formal warning that the next time you engage in this style of rhetoric you will receive a ban.
Same, have heard a lot of people IRL that blame the vaccine for things like COVID deaths and long COVID symptoms
When I first met my blue collar coworker, a guy who was going to be training me all day, he ordered me to take off my mask for a moment so he could see my face (I held my breath), then said that the covid vaccine had injured his relatives. The dude spent a lot of time on facebook and was (forgive the language) completely insane but very good at his job.
It’s wonderful to see rightwing people blaming the vaccine for premature deaths. Nobody even coughed when the pandemic began, but as soon as the vaccines were introduced, everyone died.
I don’t eat indoors in restaurants, if people invite me and I don’t feel comfortable declining I show up and wear a mask to the party or whatever. Restaurants fucking suck and are expensive as fuck.
