I’m a dude, but I grew up with little sisters and kind of am void of piggish tendencies due to that I think, I realize women aren’t objects at least. Kink is kink and sexuality is sexuality, but I would assume women want to be able to post photos without some nasty ass dude or neckbeard in the comments section commenting about how fat her ass or boobs are or how they would “hit it”. Or walk down the street without some dog trying to hit on her.

I just saw something like this happen on twitter unfortunately and ive seen it life as well from some of friends who I tell to their faces they’re being pigs.

Personally I prefer to identify more with a Bilbo Baggins model of masculinity and I find that helps me navigate the cultural pressures of toxic masculinity

I think thoraboos are hilarious bc in some places “Viking” gender roles were at least partially flipped - Men were considered too dumb and flighty to handle math or money so women were in charge of finances and household economics, while men got an allowance. Women controlled property and could divorce if they wanted to. It was an extremely different cultural and legal environment than the uwu demure viking tradwife a lot of those nerds seem to believe in.

on the other hand they did have a trade in slaves and violence against women was considered a legitimate means of a man insulting another man (e.g. Froki hates Ragnar so Froki might assault Ragnars wife)

The vikings weren’t all that progressive

This is slightly off topic, but this comment has reminded me how funny I think “warrior” dudes are. Like, have you ever met a guy who works a normal-ass job and insists that they are a warrior, as some sort of paean to their fragile sense of masculinity? Even if they take steps to work out or learn a martial art or something, they still spend their days coding, or being a line-cook, or selling cars or whatever normal-ass thing these people do. They go home in the evenings and watch TV or surf the net, the same schlub shit I do all day. You’re not a warrior, dude, you don’t have a warrior spirit inside you. They’re weak. And you know they know. They know if they got pulled out of time and dropped into the days of American settlers expanding westward, they’d be miserable, and die. If they got dropped in the Viking Age as a Dane raider going after some poor bastards in Brittany they’d be fucking terrified, then they’d get dysentery and shit themselves to death.

Even cops. Maybe cops especially. Most cops in this country could not be called warriors by even the loosest definition of the word. Maybe some cop gangs in major cities who do contract killings or whatever, like something from The Shield. But most cops, what the hell do they do all day? Plenty of them work desk jobs, right? And most of them are on traffic? Sitting in their cruisers, jacking off and stuffing their faces, generating revenue for their municipality through speeding tickets. That’s not what warriors do.

Unless you are a frontline infantry soldier in an active warzone or, like, a street enforcer for a gang, you’re not a damn warrior. If they could all just accept that I think they’d be a lot happier, and probably a lot less violent.

Their Hitler Youth hair with Viking LARPer beards look absolutely ridiculous now and would probably get them killed in the RETVRN™ days they yearn for.

Sometimes the “warrios” dudebros tell on themselves. Before they found Andrew Taint, their fondness was for Dwight Schrute or an even more absurd admiration and emulation of Patrick Bateman. They don’t really have a grasp of what other find admirable so they take in superficial characteristics like “has a lot of screen time” and “has quotable lines” and then mirror it, especially if it’s edgy and hateful.

Make friends with the shy unconfident dudes. There are many that will be weird incels but many are some of the sweetest, kindest people I’ve ever met

I also ended up trans so lol

Oh also, I’ve noticed the guys that really love sports mostly/purely for the physical challenge aspect and not the competitive aspect are really cool too (probably because they love destroying and pushing their body more than women). The super competitive guys are a coin flip in my experience

I wish someone had told me that incel shit was a red flag when I was in my late teens and twenties. Back in the day nerd shit was still very uncool and you could get socially ostracized or even beat up for it, so there was this culture where nerds covered for each other no matter what. Which lead to a lot of shitheads getting away with shit for a long time because they were part of the “us” in us against the world. I would have cut loose a lot of people if me from the future had beamed down and been like 'You don’t need to keep these shitheads around, you’ll be fine without them and they’re making your friends miserable".

they are but they’re a pretty big one. I also think incels are badly named as it’s more an ideology about sex being the thing that grants men self value and manhood. I think it’s fair to lump them in with pick up artist ideology as well. I would argue that Andrew Tate is an incel despite the fact he has had sex

it’s a deeply toxic attitude that treats women as objects but also contextualises their refusal to sleep with you as them denying you personhood thus the logical end conclusion of the ideology is that women do not have a moral right to refuse to have sex with a man. Which is obviously horrific. Not just a dismissal of women but an active hate and resentment

I’ve seen people call it manosphere or redpill ideology. They definitely have the exact same mindset, they just differ in where they end up in the hierarchies they construct. MGTOWs fall into the same field as well, and there’s adjacent groups like femcels or transmaxxers that aren’t made up of men, but have internalized the same basic concepts about gender relations.

It’s admittedly hillarious to call Andrew Taint an incel. idk if i’d go as far as that, but he’s definitely more of an incel than some normal 30 year old virgin dude who doesn’t share their beliefs.

Come now, words must have meanings. Literally not an incel. Call him some other name. What incels want to be, maybe?

i have a big bf that i drag everywhere with me

it eliminates all the openly weird shit that people direct at me. and it feels constant if i dont have him around. i live near a pretty big grocery store with a lot of customers so whenever im there solo i almost always get harassed by some new weirdo. its pretty shit that i gotta have a bodyguard though

most recent one was some boomer whistling at me. had other ones that ive posted about here that were particularly egregious but godspeed to my PTSD turning me into a bimbo and blipping out uncomfortable things in my head

I was part of a gang of like five guys like this when I was in college and we kind of served as a public resource for the women and queer people we knew. Like folks would just walk in to our house and grab a few of us if they needed college admins to take them seriously or they wanted to go clubbing without getting harassed.

If it’s online I usually don’t do much since it feels like pissing in the wind but I just call it out when I see it in person. Don’t have to be aggressive about it even, usually just like a “that’s weird, dude” can make people reevaluate.

Unless they’re actually just an asshole and actively misogynist, those people I just avoid.

My brother is like this sometimes and I’ve told him he can be a pig. There was a relatively attractive mom walking by pushing a stroller (she was probably in her early 30s) my brother yells “hey baby”. Basically told him to shut the fuck up and imagine if that was one of our sisters.
