Remember how the Italian Futurists provided a ton of art and poetry for the nascent Fascist movement while the jackbooted thugs were out burning and killing and beating people, and the Futurist movement and the jackbooted thug movement, nominally on the same side, were from such totally different worlds that they basically didn’t know of each others existence? And the futurists just went on making weird fascist art until all of them died in the war?
Either way I was gonna read this and got about a page in and realized there were like ten more pages and I assure you; I do not care enough about weird fascist art students in NYC to finish this article.
The Futurists were at least somewhat interesting, but this crop of fascists has nothing to offer culturally. Filming people calling each other slurs, give me a break.
Reading through this I keep thinking this is like some sort of satire, like this is a satirical scenario in a fictional story.
What is actually going on, he’s a movie/cultural critic who is invited to be filmed for this movie answering a question like its a documentary style format, but then theres also this sci fi thing going on? Theres an audience watching the movie being filmed? Its somehow both a film shoot and a public struggle session against a guy who wrote insulting reviews of the previous films at the same time? He talks about a crowd but a crowd of what, what the fuck is any of this, is there a crowd of like filming staff and extras and shit or are there just random people and friends sitting around to watch a bad film being made?
Again, it just reads like its a bizarre script for some extremely meta film about local art scenes, this is all one single event he’s writing about?
This is more foreign to me than literally anything I have read about any other culture or country, genuinely alien experience trying to understand a single part of this whole clusterfuck. Like this random art scene has made their own planet out of the gravitational pull of their egos.
Weird how the entire audience for this movie is also in it; kinda like that one arriere-garde movie in Infinite Jest
wait they’re still trying to make art in New York? christ have some self respect
The only good thing i can say about Musk and Bezos is that if i had an “instantly vaporize exactly one billionaire” button, i’d use it for Thiel immediately.
At least when Red Scare was about DSA drama it was interesting, this shit is just boring. Like, imagine being in your 30’s, having been on a real ass TV show, and then having to say ‘based’ and ‘cringe’ in some sort of wannabe Tarantino style piece that doesn’t even have the decency to kill off most of the characters at the end. God the post-left New York art scene is boring.
Edit: I read through the article and it’s literally just Studio 51 rage critic sessions with less drugs. This is banal even by New York art cult standards. Every single camera should be sold and the studio should be given to the homeless, at least whatever they do will be inherently more ‘artistic’ than whatever this whole thing was.
Second Edit: Where is GG Allin when you need him?
