Gamers upset, ted lasso is bad but wholesome so it gets a pass
Oh nothing particularly bad. The first season did a good job of balancing the humour and the sincerity, and also built up some tensions which were then resolved. The second season didn’t seem to have stakes initially, when the stakes started building it lost me as a football fan (there’s just no realistic way out of it), and it sort of mixed the humour and sincerity where every joke is one of the writers giving a half remembered lecture. Like I guess the show was initially fine as a “well I have this free subscription, may as well watch this” show, but sort of drifted a little bit worse in a bunch of different ways.
My dad watches this show and I caught some of it…for being a show about some dimwit manager, why is it so melancholy and always serenaded with sad music? Asshole tv directing: lure you in with comically dumb protagonist, crush your skull with inexplicable rom com cheesiness. I’d be fine with a slapstick comedy about a dumb football manager, but what is this shit?
