It’s actually pretty incredible how the reality of material conditions doesn’t factor into the thinking or logic of a liberal at all.
A while ago in Swiss news they asked the question why, despite all the similarities to the USA, most importantly the high percentage of foreign people (and particularly, clashing cultures), why Switzerland doesn’t have the same racial tensions and conflicts seen in the USA.
Not once did they mention the comparatively much better material conditions. Instead, it was all pretentious talk about how much better Swiss culture is, yadda yadda.
If Switzerland wasn’t sitting on a mountain of wealth, you’d see the hogs going wild here just like anywhere else.
