The culture arguments are bonkers until you realize that they’re in bad faith. As if most Europeans from two or three hundred years ago wouldn’t be completely aghast at the state of things now. German unification was a highly taboo subject until very near the 20th century. Italy was likewise a bunch of microstates, there was no such thing as ‘Italy’. Spain, France, and England would all be horrified at how weakened their monarchies are. The Netherlands. The Ottoman empire just whole ass doesn’t exist anymore. Russia would be scandalized at the fact that they murdered their Tsar and his family, followed by the better part of a century’s rule by an expressly atheist government (though Putin is something of a Tsar himself, so that might allay some of their anxieties). So much shit has changed for Europe over the last 2-300 years, just fucking miss me with your bullshit “but muh culture” arguments.
I think the worst part of his dipshit argument is that he thinks human culture has ever existed in a vacuum. People have been migrating in and out of Europe and everywhere else since the stone age. England as it exists now is the result of several centuries of settling by different peoples and cultures, just like every other country. Like 99% of every language spoken in Europe (except for things like basque) came from somewhere else, and their religion is middle eastern. It’s only natural that this would intensify now that travel is so much easier and everything is interconnected.
But he thinks that we have to freeze things as they are now? After they colonized half of the world?? Ridiculous

yes seriously what kind of england do these people want to retvrn to because england only exists as a thing because of several foreign colonizations from the romans to the danish to the vikings to the french, and then fast forward to the 1900s, much of their pop culture came from former colonial subjects, jamaican/black british made popular music, south asian food etc.
take away the foreign infulence and there’s literally nothing left unless you draw some arbitrary line at like 1960 or 1700 or what
