Both parties lose the midterms when they have the Presidency. Which is why Dems gained seats in 2018 when Trump was there. Usually they also lose a bunch of governorships and state legislatures but Democrats actually gained some this time

Basically it’s a huge contrast to the 2010 midterms

The GOP wins in so far as they can stop anything from happening and flog the President for being useless for two years while they rile up their base. The Dems win because they don’t have to do anything and can just vibe for two years. Actual people lose because this fucking country.
