I can’t stand the hyperrealistic episodes of Black Mirror, but I can watch the others like they’re a horror movie and get through them. The newest season doesn’t feel the same though.

I’ll never be able to finish that episode with Bryce Dallas Howard and the social rating system, that is too real for me and makes me sick thinking how people would suffer under that system.

If you haven’t seen Legion yet, I’d recommend that. It keeps things weird throughout, and I liked the way the 3rd season wraps up the story.

I used to think lotion couldn’t smell good. My mom would have us put ‘bag balm’ (cow udder vaseline stuff) on our hands, and put socks on them before we went to bed. It worked great on cracked skin, though.

I found putting lotion on before my gloves while leaving the house works great too.

Hasn’t there already been a large amount of conventional artillery pointed at South Korea’s largest city this entire time?

Or does the US military ignore the potential destruction of a city of millions because it’s collateral damage? To a normal person, that should have already made invading the DPRK a non starter.

You can make delicious banana bread with bananas and applesauce! I hope the Bread Dad doesn’t have problematic tweets in their past; their eggless banana bread recipe and tips work well for my family. We use vegetable oil instead of butter to make it vegan. https://breaddad.com/eggless-banana-bread-recipe/

If you have flax (or xantham gum or psillium fiber) in the pantry you can whip up some great french toast with this recipe: https://minimalistbaker.com/5-ingredient-vegan-banana-french-toast/

Why not a book by a Greek* Anglo? This guy has a huge body of work*

  • Not really a Greek
  • Those books were definitely ghost written

Your question reminded me of one of my first encounters with a leftist, a Greek lady that explained why royalty sucks in a concise way. “The other royals decided we needed a king” and went on to explain all the terrible things the Greek monarchs did.

Honestly, I’d look into a book by Yanis Varoufakis, or something about the period of time when they were ruled by “nobility”. The only modern history covered in the US media regarding Greece is their winning independence from the Ottoman empire and WW2. This wikipedia page is a good place to start down a rabbit hole.

What about an open source operating system for embedded devices? i.e. A new OS for your wireless router

OpenWRT is amazing - it not only provides security updates when the manufacturer refuses to, it can make your network work better! Its easy to install additional packages, and it can now update itself.

Fast roaming support - allows new-ish devices to switch between wireless APs seamlessly. Useful when your place has thick, brutalist walls.

Eliminate bufferbloat - this is hard to describe, but if you have slow internet like me, you can have lag spikes when it’s being fully utilized. This shows up most frustratingly when playing games online or on video calls. The SQM package and the CAKE scheduler can fix that.

Calling to refill meds was one of my most dreaded tasks, until my clinic/hospital got an online portal I can message them through. I have a reminder set to send them a message each month, and even if I forget and run out, my primary care provider responds really quickly. Either way, my phone call anxiety isn’t a problem in that respect anymore.

I wish I didn’t need to pick it up in person each month, and have the pharmacist ask me if I’ve taken it before and feel their (real or perceived) judgment. They can mail me expensive medication for other purposes, but not a month’s worth of ADHD meds!? Same thing with Sudafed, just let me order that stuff online. Stupid war on drugs, nobody is stealing from my mailbox anyway.
