Dipshit, what do you think the point of being a business owner is? To create jobs out of the goodness of your heart?

Perfect example of how someone can have academic prestige or whatever and yet still be completely fucking ignorant of how the world actually works.

but prescribing a cure to a cancer patient would be unfair to all the people who already died from terminal cancer :frothingfash:

Still means tested of course, but I honestly expected nothing, so yay I guess?

Given all the Russiagate hysteria that’s been going on for years now, I’m actually kind of surprised this poll shows a plurality of Americans believed that Russia was more of a competitor than an enemy as recently as the beginning of this year.

Then again, maybe not. When viewed among partisan lines, I’d assume that the large overall recent uptick in “Enemy” viewpoint is largely coming from Republicans.

Edit: Actually, as seen here, that’s not true. A plurality of Republicans and Dems viewed Russia as more of a competitor than an enemy in January. The fact that both have shifted their perception in basically the exact same way since then shows that, once again, there is fundamentally little to no difference between a liberal and a conservative, especially on foreign policy.

I fucking hate this piece of shit. Not only did he fuck up the AIDS crisis, he also would have completely fucked up on Ebola if it had ever gained a foothold in the US:

They made their laissez faire obvious in 2014. The outbreak of Ebola, with its 40% case fatality rate, triggered alarm about the disease spreading across America, and state governors demanded mandatory quarantines for healthcare workers returning to the U.S. from afflicted regions. But Dr. Tony Fauci did not want his colleagues subjected to quarantine, and went on mass media to blast New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia and Florida, declaring their quarantines ‘unscientific’ and ‘draconian’. Again, Ebola’s case fatality rate is 40%.

Bill Gates most certainly does, he routinely expresses concern about shit like Africa and their “rapid population growth” and the like, there’s no way he isn’t an ecofascist

Shout out to the person here who encouraged me to go through with getting involved with Food Not Bombs. That was my first time doing mutual aid, and had a great time and met a lot of awesome people there! Gonna start doing this regularly I think!

Ah yes, it is the zero-covid authoritarian China that is preventing us from moving on from the pandemic! And not the fact that, oh I don’t know, our dumb fucking western governments never tried any kind of serious comprehensive response to nip COVID in the bud and have thus created the conditions for the pandemic to continue in perpetuity. Couldn’t possibly be that, nope.

Liberals always have to qualify their statements about something horrific happening in America by expressing shock that it’s happening here and not just some boogeyman country, as if it’s some kind of aberration in America, i.e. “this isn’t who we are”, etc., when said horrific thing is actually a perfect distillation of this shithole country and everything it stands for.
