Plus there’s the fact that an armed revolution just as often ends with the fascists winning as it does with leftists winning; see Spain in the 1930s for an example of that. I genuinely think the people on twitter clamoring for a revolution haven’t thought about what a revolution would actually entail.

I ran into this same attitude on a post saying that Biden would still drop some bombs in the middle east and “fewer bombs isn’t any better”. To even be able to conceive of saying that implies two things:
You are so extraordinarily privileged that you would gladly deny a massive decrease in human suffering because you don’t see it as perfect. (for the group of leftists who were saying “don’t vote Biden, he’ll still drop some bombs”)
More bombs isn’t any worse.

I do wonder if the paranoia about everyone you talk to online being a Russian agent is real or performative sometimes.
I personally would prefer some form of anarchism or libertarian socialism but everyone who sits around online complaining about tankies just seem like such fucking dorks oh my god. A bunch of extremely online nerds complaining about other extremely online nerds instead of just fucking going outside. Anarchists are already way more active in actual political organizing in the US than MLs but boohooooo they invaded my online forum and disagreed with state department propaganda :'(((((((. It’s incredibly annoying and farcical when a bunch of people who will never engage in politics outside of the ballot box bitch about another fringe group in some online drama as if their opinions on the subject (or the subject itself) actually mattered.
I mean, aside from the sliver of people who are just marinating in Stalin memes, I think most “Tankies” would also prefer to take a pacifist approach. They just know enough history to see that any revolutionary triumph will be followed swiftly by a counterrevolutionary onslaught and that the revolution must be defended with force. We don’t call it Class War for nothing. It is literally war, and war is Hell.
I think most of the US left thinks we can get rid of Capitalism without sacrifice. USians have known nothing but peacetime domestically and they’re very quick to blame the victims whenever that illusion is disrupted.
i think there’s alot of memey glorification of violence that is of putting lol it is for me at least it sometimes feels less begrudgingly necessity and a scary way to validate themselves by crushing what they deem as an enemy
