It’s possible that the rebrand is being done to separate the Twitter brand and maintain its value in the (not at all unlikely) even that X declares bankruptcy. I could imagine a future a few months from now where Elon Musk gets tired of losing money, folds X, sells the Twitter brand, and someone relaunches it while they pick apart the remains of X in receivership.
