My friend got a deal like this with a TV they or their parents bought back in the mid 2000s, one of the first flatscreens. They pay a monthly maintenance fee and if anything happens to the TV, the company they pay the maintenance fee to has to fix or replace the TV, no questions asked. They haven’t bought a new TV since, they basically get a new one every time the TV stops working. They recently got a new HDR TV recently, I think it’s their fourth one now. The maintenance company must be desperate to try get them off of the books. Given that the maintenance fee hasn’t risen in over 15 years, it might have been worth it financially in terms of spending less money overall, compared to buying a new TV.
