Well I mean his message is actually only a few characters longer than yours (I actually checked with a character counter), so it might be more accurate to say ‘slightly extra winded’
I just take people saying that as an opportunity to go into the horrors of slavery with people who say that. For example when people say “africans enslaving africans was the greater betrayal” it helps to then talk about how masters would have children with female slaves in order to sell those children for profit. Really gets accross that no slavery was white people especially but not exclusively the aristocracy

Geneticists: uhhhh actually it turns out there is vastly more genetic variation among people on the african continent than in all non-african human populations combined.
The other person answered it well. A lot just has to do with the “founder effect.”
It would be like if a group of people left to colonize a new planet. We should expect the diversity of genes on that new planet to be quite small in a few hundred years compared to the diversity of earth - because they’re all descendants of those same colonists.
So too with migrations out of Africa - all non-Africans are ultimately descended from the (relative to Africa’s pop at the time) small group of people who dipped from the continent.
Basically - Humans and human ancestors have been in Africa for 6.5 million years. Or, really, forever, 6.5mya is just when we diverged from chimps. Everyone who isn’t in africa descends from relatively small groups of people who migrated out of Africa ~50-60 thousand years ago. And Africa is a huge continent with a lot of harsh terrain, so people living in Ghana and people living in Zimbabwe probably didn’t have very much contact with each other over the millenia. There was a long, long time for communities to evolve separately. Don’t get me wrong, we still all share like, idk, probably 99%+ of our genome. But distant African groups have had aeons to evolve and fix different traits, while all the diversity between all non-Africans has happened in a much shorter time span. Like I want to say the genes that cause white skin in caucasians are only 6-7k years old?
Look, I’m as progressive as they come. But if an African person sells me another African person, what am I to do? Just don’t buy another person and force them to work? Let’s be reasonable here. It’s kind of not my fault if you really think about it. If I didn’t buy them, someone else would and then I would have to find some other way to make money other than slave labor. That’s not very fair is it?
