I got disgusted with my weight gain recently. I haven’t been eating well. I used to run track as a hobby but have been lazy and depressed the past ten years.

I’m not in the worst shape but I hate how I look and feel. Gotta lose this weight, gotta lose like 30 lbs.

Hopefully I can keep going and not give up like the previous times. I wanna have a lifelong habit. Previous attempts at fitness would get interrupted by week long panic attacks or depression. I’m medicated now so hopefully it goes better?

Also I ride a bike everywhere now. :sicko-biker:

I always hated running, then during the first few months of COVID I started doing it just to get out of the house while still avoiding people. I was surprised how quickly I grew to love it. I still hate the first mile or so, but after that it’s like meditating. I always feel good after as well.

I haven’t really lost a ton of weight from it but that’s because my diet needs work. I definitely feel better overall though. I’m currently working on incorporating some strength training as well, which definitely helps me feel better about my appearance.

Your experience with running is identical to mine. Can’t imagine my fitness life without it now :anprim-pat:

Exactly! I feel like such a loser saying it, but i feel like my mind gets a little goofy if I haven’t run in a while.

Good job, get that body moving. I’m on the same boat, I’m on week 3 of a couch to 5k program. Not because I want to run a 5k race, but just because it seems to be some sort of structure and at least gives me a sense of progress. It’s like, this body is designed to run, it doesn’t take that long to do, it doesn’t cost any money to do… I should be jogging several times a week for the rest of my life, it can only be good for me.

I hope I eventually feel a runner’s high. It kinda feels terrible right now, but that’s mainly because I’ve never rand for more than 5 minutes at a time in my life.

You’ll get there. A few years ago I could never run for more than like 10 minutes at a time, but after consistent training I started running 5k then 10k. Runner’s high is real and feels amazing

Good for you, comrade.

It’s at the freezing point here. But I broke my malaise today doing about 10-12 miles on the bicycle.

Still doing intermittently fasting, varying 16/8 but having only a smoothie in the 16 hours (in the morning, but only after 12-14hours of not eating). Try to walk at least 2 to 3 miles a day, which includes a commitment to walking every night after dinner.

Keep it up.
