not to sound like a twitter stan, but it’s always seemed weird to me that Taylor Swift is always being accused of being a secret white supremacist even though she’s clearly a normal hollywood lib and Katy Perry is right there bein a full on chud. I guess the difference is Tay Tay’s music is merely overrated, while Katy’s is bad enough that no one is listening to it.

A great way to identify the “superficially liberal because I don’t want most people I know I’m actually a reactionary asshole inside” person is when they make broad allusions to “this [city/state] is a mess right now” without any concrete analysis. What they really mean is the govt isn’t rounding up and imprisoning enough homeless people or it tried to implement relatively toothless mask mandates to keep people safe during COVID.
Saw it a lot when random celebs came out in favor of recalling Newsom but could only say that “the state is a mess right now” and nothing beyond that.

Initially I liked her for that. Leaving Christianity completely means (to me anyway) breaking through one’s automatic default of cognitive dissonance and actually accepting that you’ve believed lies for years. However it seems like so many people don’t fully break that grip and go back to Christianity once they get older. It’s like they live that Boomer phrase “you’ll grow out of it”/“it’s just a phase”. I guess her leaving Christianity was performative or just some youth rebel phase that getting money eventually reversed.
Anyway it sucks to see. Katy Perry was at best a super Lib, but I prefer super Lib Katy to fascist adjacent Katy.
