Eid al-Fitr is one of the major holidays in Islam, and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims the world over fast from sunrise to sunset in order to build humility, empathy, and faith with those around them and the world at large who suffer from going without all year round. it is a day of prayers, community, and a lot of really great sweets.
Eid al-Fitr is marked by the sighting of the new moon, as Islam follows a lunar calendar. because of this Eid al-Fitr not only changes dates through the Gregorian year but also can be different between different countries where some sight the moon, and others do not.

after I got home last night, some comrades told me n a signal group chat that apparently 2 groups of trots got into a fight lmao. and all I could think of was that simpsons meme of the 2 monkeys with knives and the cheering crowd
I think these guys were different groups from some previous split. there were so fucking many trot groups there it’s hard to tell
God, online drama may be more readily accessible, but Trot group drama will always be the best
One of my favorite things to do is just listen to someone who is/was part of a Trot org recount every little detail of the org’s drama over the course of hours. It’s just so fucking fascinating
I’ve met so many Trots that are just… spreaders of misery. What’s up with that?
They will attend a simple event with a fun activity intended to bring libs into a socialist space and start dictating how it’s supposed to be run, pick fights over theory, and not-so-subtly start talking shit about others’ decisions to not do what they want (and can others “sectarian” lol).
And overall, most of them seem stressed out most of the time.
Is this a symptom of them all thinking they’ll need to be the next Lenin or something, so they take themselves seriously all the time? Or have I just been unlucky with the Trots I’ve run into?
Edit: oh and they’re constantly talking shit about each other too lol wtf
