Abbott literally invited crypto miners into Texas, thinking the increased demand for electricity would spur a free market™ increase in supply. Now we’ve been fucked because there’s no extra electricity, and we’ll be fucked by another winter storm.

They quickly became the #2 bitcoin producer in the world (after the US) until the recent energy riots forced them to suspend activity. But Texans haven’t revolted against ERCOT despite their fuckups last year so they’ll probably just lay down and take whatever’s coming.
