My partner and I were talking recently about apple watches and how if they existed under a different system then they could really be for the greater good. What are some other things that would have been very good under communism?

Keeping time in general. The concept of measuring time is a her thing in a lot of ways, but in the present day especially, every minute is cataloged and monitored for peak efficiency.
If we didn’t commodify every waking moment to serve capital or its acquisition/distribution (scheduling for work, unpaid labor through manipulating overtime laws, having a punitive society that disincentivizes flexible schedules or the value of tasks itself, etc.) we could more freely live our lives.
We’d base things on tasks done, the value of the labor itself instead of trying to impose a full-time work schedule. We wouldn’t have people equating their worth as people with the number of hours one works in a week. We wouldn’t be pushed to follow arbitrary deadlines to meet quotas. The work would be done when it’s done and not by some min-maxing of people’s lives and health.

You would be able to take part in genuine democratic processes and elected officials would be accountable to the people, not to oligarchs.
throw-away culture. Imagine if, instead of everything being made of plastic that goes into a landfill and the culture is just “get things and then get rid of them,” everything that wasn’t essential, so like toys and small appliances and everyday clothes, was made with the minimum required resources, and you would recycle it when it breaks. It would revolve more around the idea your possessions don’t define you, and you would know the resources are there to replace everything no matter what.
