Might get owned for this, but part of the problem is that cops do have unworked trauma cause their job can involve apprehending people who are violent or unpredictable. Our shitty society provides no support so mental illness and poverty drive people into criminal and/or violent behavior and dipshits Americans can’t think of any other solution besides sending the cops in to clean things up instead of actually providing support to people form birth to give them opportunities to heal and be productive to society (according to their ability of course).
This is absolutely not THE answer, but it gets overlooked because cops are class traitors that they are also victims of the capitalist system in this particular way. Maybe of we actually took care of our people cops wouldn’t be so on edge all the time.

It’s absolutely the cop’s mistake for just shooting the dude but it is kinda weird that he just kinda casually walked to his car while like 7 cops are pointing their guns at him like why dude.
Yeah, thats what made it even worse. I’d expect to see the cop kill him when he, like, runs away from them, or does some quick movement (wouldnt justify it obviously, thats just my expected level of cop violence). But “casually walking to and getting into his car”? Just speed up a tiny bit and grab him if you gotta arrest him, what the fuck theres 4 of you how can you not just grab him

Could have tased him. Could have waited till they saw a weapon cause it’s not like they’re gonna get hit whole he’s facing away from them into his car.
Could easily be miscommunication (cops love throwing out random commands that people can’t follow). He might not have even heard what they were telling him other than vague yelling. I’m sure they have a playbook for forcing people to slip up to justify them murdering people.
