Many communities focus on various aspects of India, like memes, politics, movies and sports, just to name a few. These communities cater to the diverse online space for Indian topics and voices, and are collectively known as “Indiaverse”.

There’s a lot of dead and/or unmoderated Indiaverse communities. A few of them adhere to fascist Hindutva circle-jerk, and were made with similar intentions in mind, just like their Reddit (fuck u/spez) counterparts. I was wondering about what steps should be taken to quarantine (and possibly block/ban some of them) on the lemmy.ml instance? Not all of the communities are bad here, by the way. Some of them are related to cities. But the bigger issue is that quite a few of these communities would be a breeding ground for LARPers.

Some of them are probably not related to Indiaverse, but yes, they’re under inactive users from the subcontinent. I’ve done a little bit of research and came across a few users, and the communities they used to moderate:

I guess that’s it? Maybe there’s more, but I’m tired after a lot of searching, so I guess I’ll leave it till here. For the time being, since there’s hardly a few Indian people over here, I’d appreciate it if these communities were quarantined temporarily. If Reddit (fuck u/spez) bans any of the chuddi-infested subreddits (fuck u/spez), moderation is going to be an absolute hell once they start with their exodus. This has happened before once, but r/chodi (fuck u/spez) members moved over to r/IndiaSpeaks (fuck u/spez). A few of them moved over to bakchodi.org, which went down (thankfully), and I guess they’re all back on Reddit (fuck u/spez) again in various subs, including r/indianews (fuck u/spez) and r/indiadiscussions (fuck u/spez).

I’ll tag two admins of the instance, as I don’t think that they’ll want this content: @joebidet@lemmy.ml, @cypherpunks@lemmy.ml

A lot of those users are already doing shady shit. HinduSher for example is clearly squatting on multiple comms, among them three (!bakchodi, !bharatvarsh, !bharatvarsha) that, while not intrinsically associated with fascism, do provide enough context for his username.

Thank you for adding a link to how r/bakchodi (fuck u/spez) was created, but I think it’s missing some important details. Somewhere over r/librandu (fuck u/spez) is an archive about the same. Stealing it shamelessly from a deleted Reddit (fuck u/spez) user:

Bakchodi was initially created as an Indian circlejerk sub way before the others. It was a time when randia had a modi fetish (ikr). But then after randia turned against their overlords and established military junta, fleeing refugee proto-chodes joined bakchodi to protest against the dictatorship at India’s official sub. This continued for a few years but then a based mod and officer of the internet did an Order 66 and purged them all leaving them to create the infestation of roaches known as r/chodi

Too bad, but looks like r/bakchodi (fuck u/spez) has also gone to shit.

Thx for this work. I banned a lot of the users above, since most of them were just community squatting and had zero posts.

For the inactive communities, use !community_requests@lemmy.ml and we can transfer them as necessary.

Thank you for this. I think you probably forgot these ones:

  • @ParvezShah786@lemmy.ml - their intent towards creating a community with a derogatory name is why I think they should be removed - Endia and Porkistan are derogatory words thrown around by extremist and far-right groups from respective countries.

  • @poputchik@lemmy.ml looks like a raita to me. If you see carefully, they’re crafty around their hate for Muslim folks - like for example, this one, or that one. Or posts like this or that.

Also !bharat@lemmy.ml is another redundant community - !india@lemmy.ml already does that job well.
