I’m not sure if I’m part of this big exodus or not. I’ve been toying with the idea of migrating this comm for months, as lemmy.ml is focused on open source and privacy while mander.xyz is focused on sciences. It’ll be more discoverable there, it’ll be easier to access it across the Fediverse, and it’ll be easier to be on the same page as the admins when it comes to the rules.

The straw that broke the camel’s back, for me, was not even politics. Or even which sort of content they allow/deny in their instance. It was how they handled another lemmy.ml community; it shows that they’re completely unprepared as a team to handle users in an acceptable way.

Couple the above with the backpedalling (from “This is what mods are for.” to “Instance rules are mainly the job of mods.”; emphasis on “mainly”) - a sleight of hand, while lying that I was the one using a sleight of hand - and I’m led to the conclusion that you have nothing meaningful to add to this discussion, and can be safely ignored as dead weight and noise.

So the discovery kicks them to an extinct order, Apatotheria. This means that they’d be further from us primates than treeshrews and colugos are.

I think that it’s worth trying #1 because I genuinely think that Arthur Besse is simply being overprotective, and using a “better safe than sorry” approach, and the reason why he might believe that [the anime instance] has CSAM is Dessalines’ github claim. As such, I don’t see stupidity or maliciousness from their part; just a broken telephone game. This means that they might listen to reason.

Not just the mods. Admins can (and should) also moderate content in their instances, specially when it comes to the global rules. And it’s clear that lemmy.ml admins want to do so, otherwise this thread wouldn’t exist on first place.

Sorry for the double reply. Here’s a practical idea: what if the mods of this comm contacted lemmy.ml’s admins? Ideally doing two things:

1. Clarifying that the instance in question does not have child sexual abuse material, and requesting users to be allowed to link it.
2. Expressing desire to migrate !anime@lemmy.ml to the instance in question, and highlighting that this is convenient for both sides of the matter.

Among the admins I think that Nutomic would be the best to contact, given the github thread.
