The short (and correct) answer here is that without a controlled study, we just don’t know. The fact that there’s anecdotal reports saying it works and the fact that there’s a plausible mechanism of action in vitro are both irrelevant–neither one of those constitutes evidence of the kind that would be necessary to make it even remotely responsible to recommend that people take it for COVID. Anecdotal evidence is simply not evidence, full stop.

there is a difference between meds made/dosed for animal and human consumption.

There might be evidence that prescribed ivermectin, in a therapeutic dose range, helps people. idk I haven’t done research on that. However, I do know that people taking amounts/formulations meant for animals is very dangerous and could bring unexpected side effects, and every person you see on Facebook is going to the farm supply store to get it because it is not an FDA approved treatment for covid
