I can’t commit to a new site when I hear all these horror stories about anarchist chapo admins mocking, silencing and banning communists. I need to know that this will be a left unity project and that sectarianism won’t be tolerated. That I won’t be attacked for defending China / NK. That I won’t be called a “tankie” for explaining that gulags were a progressive form of justice. That liberals spreading imperialist propaganda about the Uighurs or Honk Kong reactionaries will be shut down immediately and not given room to breathe. The MLs in the chapo community need the admins and mods to make us these promises so we can trust this site and devote our time to posting here.
Basically, If you hate capitalism and want to crush fascism you’re welcome here.
That’s how I always think of left unity – whatever our disagreements about the end goals, we’re largely on the same page for steps 1 through 100. We can go miles and miles farther left than the U.S. is today before a lot of our philosophical differences become immediate issues.
This is a leftist unity forum, and therefore all leftists, whatever their persuasion, will be heard and tolerated. This is not an exclusionary space against tankies or anarchists or Marxist-Leninists or whoever, and it never will be. So long as you are not spreading imperial propaganda*, then you will be heard. That includes recognising that there are legitimate concerns from leftists against China that is not just CIA propaganda, and allowing those people to speak. We won’t shout down legitimate criticism, and we won’t allow it to be shouted down. At the same time, we will also not allow praise of China to be shouted down, and we will allow those people to speak too. This is a forum for all, and that is a promise all mods will keep.

the very fact that you referred to us as tankies first shows ur bias, tent communities always end up being exclusionary towards MLs. anarchists love to throw around terms like “jacketing” when the prop that they bought into is called out. good luck with the community .
I think you can count on all of that except for not being called a tankie. Someone’s gonna call you a tankie at some point. But I’ve been posting a lot of pro-China stuff and it’s been a pretty positive reception so far.
Anti-China stuff shouldn’t be tolerated though, we can’t let this platform turn into another reddit where “China bad” is the status quo…
I agree, but moderating it is tricky if it’s a left unity platform. Anarchists and other leftists are going to critique it. That needs to be allowed. Also /u/beatnikthespian, one of the top admins, is a self-proclaimed tankie so they’re on your side.

The largest tendency within the mod and admin team is ML with Syndicalist just behind them. People are allowed to have their opinions on China, and banning people who say China Bad (But not in a sinophobic way that reddit does) would be just as bad faith as banning people who say China Good.
We can difference of opinions, and as long as nobody is jacketing other users or insulting them on a personal level (versus attacking the idea) we can keep things pretty peaceful and fun around here.
Wtf is this post? There are already plenty of ML people already posting the same pro/neutral talking points about China on the site with no issue, just like old times. I know there’s been a bunch of mishandling of moderation on the Discord that may spread over here due to biases, but Discord was also a shit place to post. Now there’s a modlog and people can actually see what was posted over the course of hours instead of getting buried after a couple minutes.
The tone of this post and the commenters is really weird too. You folks should try discussing actual topics and seeing how it goes first instead of asking themods to offer a personal guarantee so that you’ll bring your glorious posts to the new Chapo. Yeah it sucks that c_d, Zara and a few other good posters got caught up in the drama, I’m not happy with how things have gone down, but it’s a forum. Nobody needs you to “dedicate” your time a though you’re providing some sort of public service. Just make a new username and post, and then bitch the mods out after they start with some bullshit instead of doing it preemptively.
