Beehaw wants to become the defacto face of lemmy and this is just a move to gain users on their instance.

but they’re literally siloing themselves off from everyone else right at the point of a popularity boom - causing one crowd to whine about freeze peach, and another to silently realise that they had a user experience that just got worse
like, at least we had a reason to be separated from lemmy; the dev was too slow
