Bad things can happen in non-western countries without the criticism of them being instantly lumped in with racism.

I will say, persons I know a bit more familiar with anime than me claim that a lot of the more blatant creeper shit is actually more popular in the west than it is in Japan
Yeah, and for the most part my condemnation was of western creepers consuming that shit, not Japan itself. Japan as a country has its own specific political problems but talking about how some creepy westerners consume the worst versions of such products isn’t automatically racism.
