For every proton post, can we please get a bot that auto posts these, to save everyone the effort:

  • proton isn’t private / yes it is / they never claimed to be
  • wasnt there a case when they shared that activist account / you have the facts wrong, here’s what actually happened
  • [insert proton app name] for Linux when? / Linux is only x% of user base
  • proton needs to finish [insert proton app name] before starting something new / they are different teams so not relevant
  • proton needs to make X / no they don’t
  • people shouldn’t put all their eggs in one basket / then don’t use the service then

Thanks!

Did you delete Gmail but keep your Google account? If so, I didn’t know this was possible

Has anyone figured out how to transfer a Gmail account’s Android app purchases to a new Google account that uses a non Gmail email address? This is the only reason I still keep my Gmail, having moved to proton 4 years ago.

The deal was just announced, so I think it’s unreasonable to expect shared storage on day one. It does seem a logical thing to do in time, though.

This is brilliant. The government could put out a searchable database.

While the company is obviously proud of the potential of this technology—touting how it could be used to provide reading assistance for kids and give a voice to those who’ve lost theirs

LOL there’s no way this use potential is what they are proud of. There’s zero billion dollars in solving those problems. What’s the real reason they are developing this? Maybe just because they can, and because others are already starting to do so.

I’ve been using this for a little while now on Android. I believe it works by using Spotify track data and your account there to then use YouTube’s audio to feed your the music you ask for. It’s seamlessly done. So far it’s meeting all my streaming music needs, even if it is sometimes a little uneven in performance.
