Part of the goal is to encourage their campaign to get more of a mastodon presence

Protests themselves often tend to be less popular than the causes they promote. Politically it can make sense to distance from a protest, but still align with a cause itself that is more popular

It’s strange, but ultimately the cause itself is what matters here

The method of mass killing are quite brutal too. In the last outbreaks, primarily these were the two primary methods:

Ventilation shutdown (VSD) is a means to kill livestock by suffocation and heat stroke in which airways to the building in which the livestock are kept are cut off. It is used for mass killing — usually to prevent the spread of diseases such as avian influenza. Animal rights organizations have called the practice unethical. The addition of carbon dioxide or additional heat to the enclosure is known as ventilation shutdown plus (VSD+).[1][2][3][4][5]

Foam depopulation or foaming is a means of mass killing farm animals by spraying foam over a large area to obstruct breathing and ultimately cause suffocation.[1] It is usually used to attempt to stop disease spread.[2] Foaming has also been used to kill farm animals after backlogs in slaughtering occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.[3] Foam depopulation has been used on poultry and pigs and has seen initial research for use on cattle.[4] It has faced criticism from some groups. Some veterinarians have called it inhumane,[5] along with many animal rights and animal welfare organizations who cite the pain caused by suffocation or the harm experienced by the stray survivors.[6][7]

Yep for those curious how it harms native bees:

But scientists say competition with honey bees may also play a role. In a 2017 report in Conservation Letters, researchers calculated that during three months, honey bees in a typical 40-hive apiary collect the equivalent amount of pollen and nectar as 4 million solitary wild bees. “Brilliant foragers,” honey bees can “dominate floral resources and suppress native bee numbers,” says lead author Jim Cane, a retired federal biologist who heads the nonprofit WildBeecology.

Honey bees also carry diseases that can infect natives, including deformed wing virus and the parasite Crithidia bombi. Researchers have found that native bees near apiaries can suffer a high incidence of such illnesses.

Also some fun facts: most North American native bee species don’t even live in hives or produce honey for themselves at all. They also almost never sting too

Unlike honey bees, more than 90 percent of our nearly 4,000 native bee species live not with other bees in hives but alone in nests carved into soil, wood or hollow plant stems. Often mistaken for flies, the majority are tiny and do not have queens or produce honey. Without a hive’s larvae and food supplies to defend, “native bees almost never sting,” Mizejewski say

  1. N95 work the best but that doesn’t mean other masks do nothing. They still very much reduce risk

  2. this is an article about the UK. Election years aren’t really quite a thing in the UK as the UK parelement’s elections are called whenever the ruling party/coalition calls it as long as it’s within a certain time frame (in this case by 2025) and it’s highly unlikely for them to call for sooner than they have to as the Torries aren’t exactly polling well

For some other context, the plant is now one of the largest in the US

“Today, that same beef plant in Greeley is owned by JBS USA and has grown into one of the biggest slaughterhouses in the country with more than 6,000 workers”

It should also be noted that we currently do the exact opposite and actually heavily subsidize meat, dairy, etc around the world

The X service remains available to the people of Brazil, billionaire Elon Musk’s platform said on Saturday.

Wait so what do they mean by stopping operations in Brazil then? Just the offices and staff? The article isn’t super clear on it

Problem, I don’t think many of said staffers do as evidence by this brilliant response to a journalist asking about why trump suddenly had a lisp in this interview

In an emailed response to an inquiry about the lisp from a Huffington Post reporter, the Trump campaign said, “Must be your s****y hearing. Get your ears checked.”

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-elon-musk-interview-x-stream-lisp-b2595384.html

The lisp was present throughout and takes like 2 seconds to find clips of it and hear it
