I’ve come to the conclusion that Ukraine and Russia are playing a giant game of chicken. Whoever flinches first and reallocates forces to beat back the other’s offensive will stall or even fail in their own offensive. Russia wants Pokrovsk (and with it Chasov Yar, Toretsk, etc.), while Ukraine wants Kursk. This has significant implications for the news megathread’s chad/cuck table.

So they completely missed the part where Rapture’s anarchism led to a civilization ruined by warring factions of organized crime

Do those of you who are terminally online know what Russian milbloggers etc. are saying about attempts to remove Ukraine from Kursk? Seems like their offensive has pretty much stalled but are the Russians amassing troops for a counterattack and encirclement or does the plan seem to just be grinding the Ukrainians down like everywhere else? What are the rumors?

Ukraine’s attack reminds me of Germany’s audacious Western offensive in 1944 that surprised the Allies, made gains, and ended with a defeat at the Battle of the Bulge, which then wasted manpower and equipment it needed months later on the Eastern Front.

I’ve been making WW2 analogies for a while. Bakhmut was Stalingrad 1942, the 2023 Summer offensive was Kursk 1943, and the 2024 Summer offensive was the Bulge. Ukraine seems spent.
