I completely agree. While counter-culture and “leftism” will always go hand in hand to an extent, in the US and most of the west it seems like you have to subscribe to the counter-culture in order to be a leftist at all. You see it on this website too, with debates/memes over what is the true proletarian art/transport/hobby/lifestyle and what is not (which ironically alienates workers of course). I think that a major hurdle in making the radical left popular in the west will be “normalizing” the left without losing its radical nature.

I swear to god (hah), at least 20% of the posts on this website are posts making good points, but in the most hostile way possible.

Why are you surprised that some people reacted defensively to this post? You just stereotyped a bunch of people as crybaby wojacks, if you had instead made a short paragraph of text explaining your feelings, there would be way more people who would be willing to discuss the topic rationally.

Yes. Marx would be saddened if he learned that some Marxists would think of him as infallible.

Lol, Most Turkish people ethnically descend from the Greeks, only 10% of Turkey is “ethnically Turkish” but most of us Turkish people are not aware of that fact at all because of the extreme nationalism here. I’m Turkish but my ancestors were probably from Caucasia.

Easy example: Marx thought revolution would first happen in industrialized countries, but the exact opposite happened, there hasn’t been a single long-term communist revolution in industrial countries, and all the revolutions have instead happened in non-industrial countries.

Half the shit on her list literally is irrelevant trivia, I looked it all up, and most of it has no direct link to the issue.

The other half makes Israel look bad lol.

Perhaps, but “Blackshirts and Reds” is a book that explicitly defends the USSR, there is a pretty large gap between it and Chomsky’s more popular books.

Literally indistinguishable from parody. How can anyone fall for this shit?

I think one of my best selling points as a human being is that I’ve never watched a twitch debate in my life and I never will.

With how much online pirating runs on the backs of thankless Russians, this might just bring about a new golden age for piracy. :inshallah-script:
