https://chinadigitaltimes.net/chinese/671510.html seems to be the main source. The comments are coming from leaked materials of a CPC-led conference at Beijing International Game Innovation Conference back in September.

http://www.cgigc.com.cn/info/22297.html There’s more info on the guidelines on their official website. For whatever reason it’s currently not loading (possibly due to increased traffic?), but I’ll try uploading the .pdf files of the guidelines to somewhere if anyone knows a good place.

https://tweet.lambda.dance/pengulican/status/1443455893664718855?s=19 The guidelines are translated to English here.

All in all, this really doesn’t look good, and doesn’t seem to apply to only games - apparently various gay shows and books are affected too. Obviously there are some decent guidelines in there like the banning of imperial japan worship, regulation of gacha/pay to win exploitative ‘games’, etc. but it shouldn’t be at the expense of LGBTQ+ comrades :sicko-no:

It’s important not just for writing, but also for looking up the reading for characters you’re unsure of. Hanzi/Chinese character dictionaries list characters by what their main radical is and stroke list, so if you’re unable to read a certain character you’d need to know which radicals it’s comprised of or the number of strokes it has.

What I would suggest is learning the stroke order for the radicals first (the parts that make up each individual hanzi/character), and then it’s just a case of knowing which radical goes where. That way, instead of memorizing a 10 stroke character, you’re only remembering 3 or 4 radicals with 2-3 strokes each.

In Radical Feminism the ‘radical’ used here refers not to radical as in any kind of revolutionary thought, but to the belief that the patriarchy is the root of any and all oppression, completely opposing Marxist Feminism, so it’s inherently anti-communist by design. All TERFs are fascists.

Thanks for letting me know. If this was the only source, I would have breathed a sigh of relief at it just being :cia: propaganda, but unfortunately state-owned media Sixth Tone has corroborated this information over several of their articles, so it does seem to be true, at least the parts regarding the regulations against homosexuality, feminine men, and GNC AMABs.

From the last article:

Apart from limiting access to foreign games, the agreement also emphasized the responsibility of gaming companies to monitor users via real-name registration and facial recognition to deter minors from playing. The document also expressed its commitment to combating so-called sissy men and danmei :deeper-sadness:

I remember watching a video of a pitched-up tiger’s roar and it sounded exactly like the meow of a common housecat

“Danmei” refers to romantic/ sexual portrayals of male/male relationships. Not sure why they translated it as “risqué online fan fiction” when the majority of danmei media that people are familiar with seems to be published gay manhua, donghua, novels, and web dramas like The Untamed and Guardian.

https://www.sixthtone.com/news/1008207/popular-chinese-boys-love-novels-set-for-english-release Has some information with multiple Chinese-language sources about the banning of gay novels and the self-censoring that a lot of adaptions are doing in order to get published/aired.

https://www.sixthtone.com/news/1008539/china-takes-aim-at-growing-tv-adaptations-of-boys-love-novels Another article. There seems to be a concern among the CPC that the dramas are overly focused on hyping up the relationships on social media for commercial reasons, and that’s why they’re banning it.
