Taking notes is the main thing that helps me focus while reading. Like you say when you’re reading a paragraph over and over, taking notes helps. It allows you to stop and engage and focus on getting the main idea from that section instead of getting stuck and skipping over it or something. It does take more time and effort but I think it’s worth it in the long run for the better recall of information you get. Granted I certainly don’t always take notes lol, but I can tell the difference in focus when I do.
I really love 40s and 50s women’s fashion for some odd reason. Clothes were so much more well made and much more flattering. It’s an extremely pretty and fun style. idk about the other elements of the time, interior design was so tacky lol, but some midcentury design is cool and I like the graphic design as well.
I have a similar passion for victorian fashion, specifically the 1890s, but sadly it’s much less socially acceptable to wear in public lol. I love the hairstyles and the silhouettes of the time. give me a good petticoat and bustle and I’ll be in love. The attention to detail and ornateness on older clothes is beautiful in a way we never see today. Basically I guess I wish clothes were more well made. Fast fashion has seriously killed any sort of art in people’s everyday wardrobes.
thrifting all of my clothes, pirating all the media I consume, and using ad block and blocking trackers. also when I was in high school I always let people copy my homework, not sure how much it helped lmao, but it made me feel like I was sticking it to my school when I absolutely despised it and thought homework shouldn’t exist (which I still strongly believe, the school system fuckin sucks)
Despite being the better cook my dad refuses to make any meals in our house. It’s either me or my mom who has to cook. He also refuses to pick up after dinner when asked. This is the same man who says he’s an anarchist. 🤔
no need to apologize, reaching out to vent when you need to is always a good thing.
when I get worked up about school I like to reflect back on past experiences where I’ve been really upset about similar things. most of the time I realize I’ve almost completely forgotten about them. as cliche as it is, this too will pass. it won’t always be as intense as it seems in the moment. just focus on the things within your control and you’re gonna be okay <3 <3
yeah i’ve shopped at all kinds of consignment type stores and I’d agree. It’s definitely much better than buying new. honestly though, thrift stores are still really cheap unless you’re in LA or NY or something. true vintage clothes (1970s and earlier) are worth the price too. you really just have to find the right stores.
i got my boots a few months back and still haven’t broken them in lol :(
