nice find, hope the channel keeps uploading more, especially like that there are new ones (as far as youtube goes) in there about ancient history
He’s following a similar path as Elon, trying to convince the public he’s this tech visionary, TMK podcast did a little riff on his history, according to them he hasn’t actually done that much himself, it’s more about being in the right place at the right time and then doing self-marketing
I’m a bit surprised they went easy on the last episodes. I agree that S3 wasn’t bad like season 1 and 2, but I still thought it was weighted down by an obligation to do nostalgia and fan service. I thought eps 1-4 of season 3 were a really good modern TNG movie (they even had a plot excuse for the dark set lighting), and then eps 9 and 10 tried to be another movie but it felt too unreal, too many fantastic shortcuts. The cast still has their old chemistry though and it was nice to see them handle those nostalgic scenes.
They could have done this reunion when the cast was younger but also I think it was needed right now because the trek universe is being used to drive interest to their streaming service, so the streaming wars made the bigger spend on a reunion season worth it for the company.
Also were trek fans always so obsessed with little details like ship designs/ship names/officer ranks?
One positive outcome of all this is it got me re-watching some good old DS9 again.
so… where will Jimmy Dore get new viewers from now?
btw I heard a podcast about that episode where Nana Visitor said at the time (ealry 90s?) people from production were complaining to her that she’s taking the character too seriously and that she wasn’t traditionally feminine enough in the portrayal, and that Avery Brooks was one of the few encouraging her to keep doing her version of the character
