I obviously downloaded a car after seeing that obnoxious anti-piracy ad.
Yes! Two days ago, someone stole my bike. That is, I had parked it (and locked it) in a bike garage monitored by CCTV at the train station where I commute and when I came back from work my bike was gone and only my broken lock was left. However, as I looked around a little the thieves had not moved it far, only down a floor into the premium “bike hotel” area that is an actual locked in area as well. So I just called the company, and they let me in and gave me my bike back.
Afterwards, I called the police to let them know someone stole my bike and that the whole ordeal was caught on cameras (they have to open an official investigation before the footage can be used due to surveillance laws). As I tried to report the theft (or attempt thereof), I had the following fun conversation with a policeman:
- Me: Explains the circumstances of what happened.
- Policeman: (Interrupts) “Yeah, maybe you should keep that in mind for next time.”
- Me: “Uhm what?”
- Policeman: “Yeah, maybe you should be a little bit smarter with regards to where you put your bike.”
- Me: “Uhm OK, I just told you I put it in the designated parking spot that, as pointed out, is monitored.”
I get that they do not really care about bike theft as they account for 30% of reported thefts, but I mean come on. They obviously moved my bike (along with others, I assume) to a nearby area so they could collect them all in a van later that night and drive off unnoticed. The police could have sent one patrol there at the right time and have them caught red-handed with video footage of the entire ordeal. Incompetence and unwillingness to actually do their work is precisely why there are so many thefts to begin with. Had I said I was a shop owner and had a bike stolen, I am certain they would show up in no time.
TL;DR: Bike got stolen and the police sucks. Thankfully, the thieves sucked marginally less, so I got my bike back.
You are not wrong. I got curious how much they receive in donations, but could not find anything about it in their financial statements.
Finally, conversion of vacant commercial spaces into storage facilities shows how capitalism prioritizes profit over community needs. Instead of repurposing these spaces for affordable housing or community centers, they are used for storage.
To be a little pedantic, I would rather say it shows how the capitalist commodification of labour power and how it ever strives to reduce the value of this commodity in pursuit of surplus value, makes it so resources are not spent properly due to the following imbalanced allocation of funds.
Having said that and realizing it is quite a mouthful, I understand the simplification. I still resent the implication that capitalism even has a list of priorities for social policies except with regards to how they impact profits.

This is not at all what totalitarianism means, look it up in a dictionary or something.
The woke mob wants me to affirm that a transsexual woman is, in fact, a real woman. I will not say that. I would be a lying. I tend to pursue truth. Truth does not care about people’s feelings.

She is a real woman even though she does not conform to your expectations of what gender is. Here is the thing though: She does not need your affirmation to
- be real
- look like a woman
- live like a woman
- feel like a woman.
What reason do you have to claim that she is not a “real woman” (whatever that means, I can guarantee that it is not well defined)? Most importantly, if she feels like a woman, even if you disagree on some metaphysical level of nonsense of what is a woman, why would you have the need to tell her what you think? Lastly, why do you think your opinion about her body is important?
You misunderstand what I am saying: They are mostly (save where hate speech laws apply) allowed to say nasty stuff. They just do not enjoy the privilege of everyone else shutting up about it. I.e., other people react to it and say unkind, possibly nasty stuff back, which the original people in question get butt hurt by and subsequently whine about “the woke mob cancelling them”.
