Network effect, first mover effect, and cost of switching. The appeal of any social media platform isn’t inherent in the design or the platform, its in the userbase and the content they create. Everyone is on tiktok because everyone is on tiktok. They launched first, caught on and got a massive userbase. It’s hard for users to move away from tiktok because their favourite creators aren’t on Shorts. It’s hard for creators to move because they can’t take their followers with them.

My instance doesn’t defederate as a general rule. It has its upsides and downsides – I still have dbzer0 and lemmygrad, but I also have to put up with occasional bullshit from exploding heads and similar. Gotta say it’s nice having you folks pop up in my feed to balance out the bad takes.
Not only is this vapid, mindless pandering, it’s objectively wrong. All trademarks are adjectives, they describe the product.
Others have already mentioned some excellent vertical tab add-ons, so I’ll post Tabs Aside, which is a super convenient way to save and load a window full of tabs. Saves having like 20 windows open with different stuff you don’t want to lose.
It’s difficult to compare diets across countries like this because of differences in lifestyle and genetics. I am actually a nutritionist but it’s like 2 am here, I’ll run some numbers tomorrow and double check this but I suspect it’s probably right.
