I’ll follow Helmic’s lead on that, but yeah, that seems reasonable.

What if we invented money, but it directly contributed to climate catastrophe? :this-is-fine:

Every lib on my TL: He’ll never actually do this because he’s not allowed to.

Because the man whose entire career is built on doing manifestly illegal things and then having enough money to tie things up in the byzantine legal system until they go away is 100% concerned with laws.

Unpopular opinion + half-formed take: Resolving the tension between “global proletarian revolution” and “there is no proletariat in the imperial core” is more likely to involve independent uprisings of a significantly more anarchist character in the core than an MLM-style mass line suddenly waking up to their conditions. Super-exploitation allows for targeted and essentially instantaneous application of “luxury” (either granting or depriving in accordance with the neoliberal strategy), which has been put to significant use in taming explicitly “organized” movements with spectacle and starvation. The critical mass of revolutionary energy necessary to effect an actual revolution is unlikely to exist in the US before climate crisis renders such movements essentially pointless. On the other hand, there are already militant cells around various special interests which have the ability to disrupt the operation of empire in such a way as to turn imperial power projection inward, thereby taking pressure off of revolutionary movements outside the core.

I am not interested in sects. I am not interested in committees. I am not interested in programs. I am not interested in optics. The empire must fall, and the harder and sooner it falls, the better it will be for everyone outside its direct power. A protracted war with empire will devastate the environment and accelerate our doom in ways we cannot begin to imagine. I will (and do) stand with every enemy of empire in that fight. I don’t care about the books that put you next to me, I care that you’re not gonna go home when there’s a new season of Chopped. There is no Lenin, there’s only the fight, and time is running out.

The “SO TRUE” format, but the first thing is “the rise of fascism in the US” and the second is “The Constitution”.

Random thoughts:

Never entering a megathread is the only way to use Discord. Extremely online cliques are poison and should have been scattered to the winds at inception rather than being given the megaphone for endless votes of no-confidence. #mod-feedback was a masterclass in tantrum politics and demonstrated the weakness of “the online vanguard” to shitty people who will not shut the fuck up. There were some good memes, I guess, but the format lends itself to cliquishness and personality cults. Whinging about “transparency” but not proposing or helping to create tools to make such transparency easier to realize is wrecker shit. Approximately 1% of users fundamentally do not understand that “discomfort” does not immediately make “conflict” nor make a place “unsafe”. 90% of drama could have been defused with a 30 minute mute and a temporary struggle sesh channel to be nuked upon resolution. Abusing unpaid volunteer mods is fucked up. Sectarian distrust and assumptions of bad faith no matter how transparently innocuous the interaction was very offputting. People taking themselves seriously on gray gamer site should be derided; internet is not real.

Confirmed: /r/CTH was a psy-op to keep everyone with an ounce of counterculture in them contained in posting prison rather than out doing praxis.
