Why do small countries bother enforcing anti-piracy?
You just need Bluetooth everything which costs 3x as much as needs to be charged and dies twice as quickly, and an expensive router for similar Internet speeds, and USB c monitors and a hub, and also plug things in very carefully and never trip over a cable because you have literally no ports to spare and if one breaks you’re sol
It isn’t universal with all the shit I already have, or even most of the shit being made today.
Most of the other things aren’t proprietary either.
- USB-A still very very much in use
- SD cards still in use
- Ethernet still in use and very handy at hotels
- HDMI (other side) very useful at hotels
- Headphones and microphones still very much in use
Magsafe charger came in the box and is objectively better (and doesn’t hog an I/O port which are in short supply)
That’s exactly what I was thinking. They used to have electric mobility carts, no more. My mother with multiple invisible disabilities stopped using them a couple years before they took them out because of the stigma against anyone using one. She already gets only the shittiest produce when she orders online pick ups, but now she’s going to get gouged too because she literally cannot stand and walk around that long without passing out in the middle of the aisle. This is so fucked up.

You gotta make your own VPN by installing a ras-pi in the drop ceiling of a bathroom somewhere with free Wi-Fi, alligator clips on the lights for power.
I can tell you what you should do all day long and it will never hurt you, unless you decide to reactively to the opposite even when I’m right.
If you tell me to stop being an annoying Linux fanboy I will have no choice but to continue, because that’s what you have to do when someone tells you something.
If being told you should do something which in fact you should do, by someone who has no real power to pressure you to do it, is so “annoying” to you that’s a personal problem.
If you think reminding people that a thing exists (even if it’s annoying to pretty much everyone) doesn’t help adoption of that thing then you should tell that to all the advertising agencies that make trillions creating propaganda (for Windows even)
The world hasn’t worked that way in a long-ass while. Maybe they’re just old and out of touch?
I remember several occasions where a store/restaurant mildly fucked up and refunded or at least gave me a gift card, but not since like 2014. Now the gloves are off. I had Walmart steal my groceries one time on an online pick up order when their system went down. It was a “fuck you not sorry. Also you’re being really unreasonable for being upset about this” situation where I had no money in my bank account and nothing to show for it. They do not care anymore.
