I was on the r/conspiracy thread alleging a photo of the CCP flag on the surface was cg literally because it “looked off” or some shit, not even pointing anything specific out. Even the US moon landing conspiracy guys are more interesting than this; it’s literally just denial that China, a preeminent industrial power, could possibly manage a moon mission. The theories will be so terrible when they send people up there I’m not ready.

Yeah you basically made an ass of yourself telling people to speak English if they want to live in America; “check your privilege” wasn’t the right thing for them to say, but something else a little less woke and a little less nice was.

Edit: OP I get that you feel like the one being punched down on because of the wealth aspect but “speak English if you want to get by here”, even when said with reasonably good intentions, is a phrase and an idea that’s pretty hate-laced in the history of this place. Being in the wrong here doesn’t mean you’re awful or unwoke forever or whatever, but like, be nice to people who can’t speak the majority language, shit’s scary. They’re in a weird position and often having trouble with that. Plus if they’re rich-ish definitely be friends with them for uhhh material reasons lol.

To be fair the actual article is kinda just “have people like you and they’ll tell you stuff and your interactions will go smoother” which is fine if a bit cynical, it’s just on another level of spaghetti brain to choose psychologists who advise on counter terror programs as the people to convey Mr. Rogers-level life advice. My grade school teacher SO has been in meetings planning the specifics of what school opening will look like at the sites she works at and I hope everybody knows we’re gonna lose parents, teachers, and kids. They have nowhere near the resources needed to keep their classrooms and materials disinfected to a safe level, the kids don’t have the discipline to distance and follow sanitary rules, and there are teachers on staff that think everyone is worrying too much lol. On an unrelated note does anybody have a good source on proper N95 masks in any sort of quantity? The district is only looking at distributing debris masks and maybe cloth ones love this place.
