So the “New word…” box seems pretty open… it accepts Unicode characters like Miscellaneous Symbols. I assume any valid Unicode character would work… I haven’t tried any of the unprintable/control characters yet.

I wonder how much filtering there is… what would happen if little bobby tables showed up?

Yeah, this is a loss for user privacy.

I’ve been very much thinking that Biden had the best chance to win, mostly due to name recognition, and that switching candidates would be a bad idea because there isn’t a lot of time left for campaigning. I didn’t think Joe was necessarily the best person to be president (given the options), but I did think he had the most exposure and was most likely to collect votes.

But I didn’t really consider that switching candidates might seriously upset the Republican campaigning strategy. This could work. As long as the Democrats line up behind Kamala and don’t fragment, this risk might pay off.

Hmm, it lacks distinctiveness - it kind of just looks like a color picker from a graphics app. That gradient might be easy to do with a computer but it would be hard to reproduce by hand (drawing/sewing/etc). It also just seems a bit lazy, in an everything-and-the-kitchen-sink kind of way.

Edit: the licensing is also a problem. CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 means that they want to be credited every time this symbol is used (attribution) and that they don’t allow distribution of modified versions (no derivatives).

I seriously doubt the community will be interested in using a symbol that requires printing a license and attribution statement next to it every time. Also, prohibiting the distribution of derivatives really demonstrates an ignorance of how communities adopt and use symbols like this.

Although clear examples of the difference between cake and bread are easy to find, the precise classification has always been elusive. For example, banana bread may be properly considered either a quick bread or a cake. Yeast cakes are the oldest and are very similar to yeast bread. Such cakes are often very traditional in form and include such pastries as babka and stollen.

Apparently the shooter was in the crowd, which means it wasn’t a long gun of any kind. Probably a pistol, something small enough to conceal. 22 makes sense.

Where I live, there are security cameras all over the buildings and the lamposts and the traffic intersections and the parking lots, plus Ring/Nest doorbells everywhere. There are more cameras outside the buildings than inside. Everybody is carrying a smartphone and I see people taking pictures or video with them all the time.

Drones and satellites are really only outside.

So I don’t agree with your conclusion.

Never mind the security cameras, and the drones, and the smartphones, and the satellites…
