Welp, yesterday a cop got killed by a homeless dude in my city. This comes on the heels of a brand new mayor getting elected who promised to increase the police budget and hire 100 new cops. You can bet your bottom dollar that the city subreddit is absolutely full of people blaming harm reduction and the defund the police movement. They are so obviously wrong, but also so incredibly fed up with the status quo that I don’t think it they can be reasoned with. I mean, people are unironically calling for “Law and Order”.

It’s too bad because as far as establishment politicians go I actually liked Horgan, and I had a pretty positive impression of Eby before this.

Now Eby’s been caught with his metaphorical pants down, and I can only hope he does the right thing.

New burner account because I actually want to talk about local politics for me. Just saw this video about Vancouver, Canada, and its grinding my gears a lot. I’ve mostly been taking the grill pill and refraining from engaging in anything beyond local politics. This is my local politics though, and is fascist propaganda, and is being shared by police union chiefs.

It basically blames identity politics and harm reduction for the drug crisis, and I want to make a response. Would anyone be interested in providing feedback as I go here?
