Moral support is a pretty weird way of saying bullets.

I believe that’s a well documented phenomenon. Even my fireman/parametric uncle, who put blue bulbs in his porch lights in the summer of 2020, fucking hates it when he shows up to find the cops have propped up a barely conscious person with a spinal injury against their squad car. Says it has all the time and you just gotta hope they didn’t fuck anything up too bad.

As a resident anarchist in the imperial core I can personally attest to how anarchism is easily one of the most useful ideological trappings for American cultural individualism and academic liberal elites. To the point where it is almost an entirely captured ideology. I’m victim to such propaganda about Zapatista.

While it’s true most doctors have no idea what anything costs, the truth as to why has more to do with hospitals and insurance companies collusion. They agree to pay doctors juuuust enough to divorce their understanding of class from that of their patients. That’s why, despite not knowing what anything costs, doctors loath treating Medicaid patients because “They should just get a job and get off Medicaid.”

If you think doctors don’t give a fuck about you, it’s because they’ve been trained to see you as a leech. If you’re a business owner, you better believe they’re going to go to bat for you against the big bad insurance companies. You want a good, empathic doctor? Find a underfunded public health clinic. You’ll find them there, and they are, by design, the ones who will know what things cost and be least likely to help you out.

The first book has quite a few flashbacks to the Cultural Revolution. Most are…fine I guess? There’s one that’s straight up ridiculous, and to the day I’m not sure if it was a joke or not.

Anyway, the books themselves avoid modern politics insofar as a book series with aliens can. It’s there, sure. But I wouldn’t say there’s any clear anti-communist slant. There’s some anti-western culture sentiment here and there though.

Still can’t get over that last season of GOT. It’s almost masterful how much they fucked it up.

Oh undoubtedly. The engines on that series started to really fail in season 5. But they didn’t even attempt to land the plane. They drove it straight into the ground.
