In my experience they straight up don’t know how to engage with you. Typically they get defensive about their own habit after you say “no thanks”.
Wife and I drank casually (but still too much) and stopped last year. We lost weight and our baseline sense of well-being is much higher. Once you get far enough away from drinking, it becomes alarmingly clear that people are straight-up poisoning themselves, and have no idea how to socialize without it.
I’ve got a friend who expatriated to the Netherlands to escape the fascist spiral we’re all feeling in the United States. It was not an easy task to manage with a wife and kid, as you can imagine.
I guess this goes to show there’s little hope in trying to run from what’s clearly coming.
The one (unsubstantiated) rumor that has me excited is the prospect of a dynamically destructable open world. If they’re able to pull something like that off in a GTA game it would really be something “next gen”. But I admit that’s mostly just wishful thinking on my part.
