We will be down for ~30 mins. If you can’t get in after an hour, check our Mastodon or twitter for updates, or try force refresh, clearing cache, etc.

EDIT: doing another quick hotpatch. You may see some interruptions

What’s the deal with posts being deleted if I can still see them? I see all these posts that just have a trash can next to them but aren’t hidden or anything.

Just wanna say I love that the main page doesn’t randomly refresh posts on me anymore. So much more enjoyable.

This was also my first reaction to the auto-refreshing on lemmy, but after thinking about it some more I’m not so sure. I have a habit of refreshing pages, but when I do it here, I think “well that was unnecessary, wasn’t it?” and it’s slowly changing my behavior. A small incremental update is cheaper on the database than a full reload.

Imagine someone asked you to find all letters relating to your lease among your papers. Now imagine they add “only the ones from this month”. Like even if you have a system, one of those is just less work. So it depends on how often you gotta do the latter vs how much less often the former, and how long each takes.

yeah but imagine if 200 people leave a tab open while they go poop or something. thats 200 calls that could be avoided. i guess itd be nice if you could turn it off or on in settings
