I always thought a great bit would be someone with like a deep southern drawl calling in to excoriate Jamie for advancing the liberal agenda but then it turns out that the caller is like a third-world Maoist criticizing her for being a leftcom

I know Sam freaked out at her because he grossly misunderstood what she said, and other shit, but I don’t remember Michael doing anything like that. Jamie is cool but that show only very rarely focused on her areas of interest and expertise, so she sometimes was very wrong about the topics they were digging into, and Michael could be abrasive about it. She’s much better on the Antifada and her show Everybody Loves Communism

The man had big ‘mostly stays on your couch but always looks swag’ energy, was an actual internationalist socialist in a word of Medicare for US radlibs, and had a brilliantly unhinged laugh. :michael-laugh:

He seemed like a good egg and it’s sad he’s gone.

The right wing mandela character was so good. And yeah, I miss him so much. I loved his internationalist perspective, but I think an understated thing he brought in is that while there was edgy humour, his content is “normie” friendly enough that i could share it with lib friends without feeling like :took-restraint:

This. I’ve never seen someone become so deeply invested in a subject of study and somehow not be AT ALL a nerd. Magic.
